Shlomo, a desperate 67-year-old man living in an apartment in severe disrepair near Tel Aviv, was experiencing several medical issues including failing eyesight and physical limitations. He could not afford to pay for the repairs that would allow him to continue living in his apartment while medically disabled, but had no other options than to remain in an unsafe situation.
Upon receiving his call, The Eckstein Project staff first listened to his soul, as he poured out pain and hopelessness. The trained hotline operator heard his story and needs, reassuring Shlomo that he had called the right place. Using the partner database, staff was able to connect him with an organization that sent a team of volunteers to perform essential renovations and paint the apartment, transforming Shlomo’s housing insecurity into a home of hope and dignity.
